Jesus – Why Did He Die?

Ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, all of mankind is born with a sinful nature, and are therefore separated from God.  All people would somday like to go to heaven but God and sin cannot co-exist together.  The sin problem had to be taken care of to God’s satisfaction before we can come into fellowship with Him and be used by Him.

Throughout earlier history God had required animal sacrifices to cover for sin committed.  God eventually wanted a sacrifice that would not have to be repeated over and over again, so He came up with the perfect sacrifice by giving of Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.  So Jesus, being God himself was sent to earth to take on human form for a while so that he could be the once-and-for-all sacrifice that was to God’s satisfaction, because Jesus was a perfect sacrifice.  When Jesus died on the cross, He, because He was God himself, took all the sin of mankind upon Himself so that we could go free from the guilt of our sin.

But we go free only if we accept by faith His offer of forgiveness and invite Him into our life.  We then become children of God and are usable by Him to accomplish His purpose on this earth.  Receiving Christ also promises eternal life in heaven once we have finished our work here on earth.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus’ forgiveness and invited him into your life, you can do so now with the help of a short presentation you can find at:  God Loves the World

I would be happy to hear from you with your comments or further questions.
