Jennifer
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that I talked to my friends last night and guess what? I went to church with them for the first time last night! It was actually not as bad as I thought it would be! I also told my dad and he didn’t believe me at first, but then he realized it was true and went ballistic. He hasn’t hugged me in forever, and this time, he hugged me and didn’t want to let go! Well, I have to go to work but I will see you later. Thanks again for everything! –Jennifer
During The Passion of the Christ showings, a high school girl, Jennifer, found her way in thelife.com chatroom, which Jason Green happened to be monitoring. In the discussion with her, Jason was able to lead her to the Lord.
He continued to email her and help her in her walk with God. Jennifer says, “Jason could have easily led me to Christ and that’s it. But he took the time to email me and has been such a blessing. In fact, there was a guy who was bothering me for awhile and it was Jason that told me I had to tell my father. I was scared my dad would get mad at me, but Jason encouraged me that telling him was best. After my dad found out, he was actually very supportive of me and the guy never bothered me again. Without Jason’s advice and support, I wouldn’t have told my dad.”
To this day, her relationship with Jesus has deepened and so has her relationship with her father, who rededicated his life to Christ. Jennifer has grown so much and so quickly in her relationship with God. She had a hundred questions and between Lisa, her email mentor and ongoing communication with Jason, her relationship with Jesus deepened that by April she was baptized.
Jennifer is involved with her church group and is working at a Christian camp this summer. She is graduating from high school next year and is engaged to Michael, a man of God who wants to be a pastor. They plan to get married next year and invited Jason to attend the wedding. “Imagine me! A preacher’s wife! Who would have thought?” Jennifer has said to Jason. Jennifer plans to go to Bible College and teach in a Christian school.
Jennifer demonstrates the power of the Internet in ministry – first in drawing those who are hurting and seeking answers, but more significantly, in connecting them immediately to mentors, helping them grow in their new found faith. Strong relationships are formed that are key to growth. In fact, over a year later, Jason continues to exchange emails with Jennifer, and she has asked him to write to her fiancé as well. Jason has learned that evangelism isn’t just leading someone to pray the prayer, but changing their entire life.
