Celebrating One Year of Teen Mentoring

In October the Teen & Young Adult Mentor Community turned 1 year old!

This time last year we had just started our partnership with the US-based radio show DMLive and had begun answering emails from teens who wanted to connect with an online mentor. Teens reach us through our sites, through the DMLive Helpline Volunteers and now through the DMLive website.

• In November 2007 the Teen Community received 91 emails from the DMLive helpline. 6 On-going conversations happened. The community grew to 27 mentors that month.

• In April 2008 we received 606 new emails from the DMLive partnership alone. 165 On-going conversations took place. The community grew to 38 mentors.

• Last month, October 2008, our community received 776 new emails from DMLive alone. 282 On-going conversations took place. The community has grown to 56 mentors.

• In total, since the beginning of this community, we have received 5,726 DMLive emails along with many more from our other websites. The mentors have written over 7,300 replies to teens and young adults all over the world.

This incredible growth leaves us with a challenge. Despite almost doubling our number of mentors, it’s not enough to keep up with the volume of emails from teens who need someone to talk to. Pray with us that God will open doors and open eyes to the impact of online mentoring so that many will want to join us.

Our Language Websites

TruthMedia has websites that share the Gospel in many different languages. God has provided translators who translated the initial content and some of the language sites have regular volunteer editors, mentors and writers.

We are praying that more people will volunteer to champion our language sites that do not have mentors, authors or editors who speak the language. We want to break down language barriers and communicate Christ’s love.

Pray with us this week that God would use our language websites to speak in the heart language of the visitors. Ask Him to raise up more volunteers who can mentor, write and edit material for non-English speaking people who are seeking for purpose.

I am struggling with my faith for the first time in my life. I am 43, never been married, and have lost the three most important women in my life: my mother, my aunt and a year ago my grandmother. My father and I have had a strained relationship since he left me and my mother when I was 12. In 2001 I was baptized. It was the best day of my life. Facing financial crisis
