Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~A Clean Inbox~

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Hi there,

We have been in The Mentor Center for approximately 6 weeks now!

How to keep your inbox in order

I notice some of you are not closing the emails in your inbox that you have already responded to. When the list becomes to big, it’s possible for you to miss emails that are waiting for a reply!  An easy way for you to tell if you’ve responded is to look at the number in brackets beside the email address. All even numbers mean the mentor has responded and all odd numbers mean it is a reply from the mentoree.

To close all emails you have responded to, open up the request by clicking on the subject line, click close (at the top right side of the page), answer ‘yes’ to this question, ‘Are you sure you want to close this conversation?’. The email will then disappear from your inbox and store in the archive folder on the left side of the page in TMC.

Save

When you use the ‘Save’ button, your email will store in the ‘Drafts’ folder on the left side of the page.

**It’s wonderful to have these features below for you to be able to change on your own.

Change your own capacity

To change the number of emails you receive per week, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom and add the number in the box that says, ‘maximum # of messages per week. Then click save. To keep this change you must click save first before you check off the days of the week. Click save again after you’ve selected the days of the week.

Holidays or Time away

In ‘Message Delivery’ (right beside Profile) you will find a calendar. Click on the top calendar to select the date that you leave and the bottom calendar to select the date of return.Click save.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

We have been working on some routing issues. If you are not receiving any emails in TMC, please indicate in your reply to this email.

Blessings!

Terri

Copy and Paste Workaround

Friday, September 19th, 2008

We’ve had reports of mentors losing their work do to some server issues we have been experiencing. Unfortunately, to workaround these issues you’ll need to copy and paste into another program first to ensure you have a copy of your message outside of the TMC. A tutorial was written by Terri below.

We apologize for the need to do this and are doing everything we can to fix the problems as they come up. Please comment below if these instructions don’t work for you.

1) Move your cursor to the top left hand corner of your reply. Click and hold down your left hand button on your mouse, then drag your mouse down to the bottom of your message, all the way to the right hand side. Then let go of the mouse button and all your text should be highlighted.
2) Now move your cursor on the highlighted text but this time use the right button on your mouse. This should open a box of options, choose the copy option by clicking it with your left button.
3) The text that you have highlighted is now copied into the computers memory and you can now open the program that you use to write letters with and the move your cursor where you would write text. Click your right mouse button and choose paste.
4) Save the text in the program you always use for sending letters and then you have a second copy.
5) If the message is gone in TMC you can reverse the process. Highlight the text and then right click and paste it into TMC.

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Encouraging You~

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Although this transition from ARC to The Mentor Center has not been devoid of some frustrations (as you try to send and get an error page instead), we know despite the bumps, God is working.

Below are a few encouraging emails that we received through the online mentoring ministry.

**I’m am just starting my way back with Christ after 40 years I just need prayer to direct me to the life GOD intended me to live.

**Until just three weeks ago I was a nonbeliever and told everyone I was Agnostic. I was angry at God because I felt that He had abandoned me when I was molested as a child by my step-father, mentally abused by my mother, forgotten when I prayed for my first marriage to work, and then recently when all the trouble with my fiancé and his troubled life this past year. I was spiteful for everything that stood for religion. But then my fiancé and I were in a fight and he knocked me down out of anger because of my hurtful words. He was arrested and his military career is on the line. I prayed for his safety but also for me and our son. I was lost and thought of suicide. Finally after four days of no sleep and not being able to even care for myself or my son, I prayed. I got on my hands and knees and asked for God to forgive me and guide me. I asked for him to make me strong for my son and not to abandon me like everyone else had in my life. That night I slept for the first time and in my dreams I was not alone. I dreamed that everything was going to be ok and I was stronger than I thought. I woke up the next morning and felt peace for the first time that I could remember. It has been three weeks since that night and I still feel God’s presence with me and know that He had not forgotten me. I am now a believer and pray several times a day.

**Dearly Beloved,

A couple of weeks ago, I sent in a prayer request concerning my father’s health issue asking God to heal him supernaturally. I am glad to announce to you that my dad who was critically ill, has been healed by God to the amazement of every one, and to crown it all he also got his memory back. Praise God!!! Thank you for your prayers and may God continue to anoint you in Jesus’ Name. Amen!!!!!!

Thank you for your commitment!

Have a wonderful week.

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Set your own Capacity~

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Greetings!

Tip

1. This is a great tip to remember if the server is down when you click the ‘send’ button on your reply and you think all is lost!

If this happens, click on your back button and you will see your reply. Copy and paste your reply into Word or some other safe place until TMC is up running again. Then paste your reply into the email in TMC and send.

2. You are now able to set your mail capacity per week in TMC in your profile page. Click on ‘profile’ and at the bottom of the page you will see where you can set this. Type the total number of emails you would like to receive per week in the ‘maximum # of messages’ box, click save and then select the days of the week you would like to receive it and click save again.

**If you want one email per week and it doesn’t matter what day it comes to you, then select all seven days of the week. What ever the total number of days is recorded in the box above is the total amount you will receive in that week.

Blessings!

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Timed-Out~

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Greetings!

Tip

The Mentor Center software has been programmed to time out after you’ve been in there for 2 hours. This was done to prevent memory from being used up, and therefore would make it very slow to work in.

So remember you have 1 hour and 50 minutes to safely work on your reply.

***If it times out before you send your message, your work will be lost.

Personal

Thank you for your prayers and support for Ryan’s wedding. Everything about the day was amazing, including perfect weather.

Blessings!

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Bold Emails~

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Greetings!

I have another encouraging note from a mentor to share.

My prayer is that this will also encourage you. I know that some of you are being inundated with an influx of emails and others are not getting any. We are working through these glitches and continue to covet your prayers.

And then there’s God who never gives up, never stops loving or caring and never stops working.

“Firstly, I just want to thank you and the team of experts there for doing such a great job with the Mentor Center!

Since the beginning of July I have been blessed with the opportunity of mentoring dozens of teen on a whole range of issues some of which include suicide, pregnancy, relationships, true love, and spirituality. I can honestly say that the great wealth or resources that you guys have put together are amazing and have made my job so much easier.  I have had many replies from teens stating how helpful these articles have been to them.

At the end of last month my family felt very much under attack spiritually and I was on the verge of having to step down from mentoring for a while. However, we serve an awesome God and after much prayer the spiritual attack ceased and I have been able to see what a great blessing this ministry is in the lives of so many teens.  Experience has taught me that the devil will try to combat anything that God has great plans for.  When the Mentor Center was experiencing technical difficulties it confirmed to me even more that this ministry is doing great things for the Kingdom at great annoyance to our enemy. Please be encouraged that you are all doing an amazing work for His glory!
I have great confidence in you; I take great pride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds.  - 2 Corinthians 7:4
I would like to be put down to receive more teen emails.  I can manage about four new ones a day as I am still receiving replies from teens I have been mentoring.
Thanking you all and may God continue to bless you”

Tip:

Not all emails needing a reply are bold in your inbox. To keep your inbox organized, I suggest you close all emails  you have responded to. All closed emails will be stored in your archive list on the left side of the page in TMC and when a reply does come through, it will be highlighed in your inbox.

**Please remember that it may not just be the bold emails in your inbox that are waiting for your attention. Check first and then close all the ones you’ve already responded to.

Personal:

I have good news that I would like to share with you and will also ask for your prayers.

My son is getting married this Saturday and I’m very excited. A mother-in-law for the first time!

Ryan is the first one out of 3. Please pray that everything go well, including the weather…its outside! (they are predicting sun)

I praise God for His faithfulness.

Have an awesome week!

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Resource Page~

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Greetings Mentors!

Remember the last time you got an encouraging email in your inbox and it just made you smile? That’s what this email did for me and so I want to share it with you.

“Despite the technical troubles, I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love the new format.  It is so much more user friendly and allows me to refer back to previous communications quickly and easily.  Thanks for all your hard work!“

Cheryl

Resources:

One of the exciting developments that has been part of The Mentor Center is the reorganization of the helpful resource page. For example, check out the information on this page and click through other links to familiarize yourself with this wonderful asset. I know you’ll find this very encouraging.

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Server Error~

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Greetings Mentors!

Two things to know.

  1. Lots of you have seen the ’server error’ message when trying to log into The Mentor Center and others of you have seen the same page when you try to send or reassign. We have been experiencing intermittent technical issues with The Mentor Center since early on Saturday, Aug 9.
  2. Even though some of you are not receiving the notification email in your inboxes, please check to see if you have mail in TMC by clicking on the link below. You can expect to be notified whenever you have mail waiting in TMC in the near future.

https://tmc.truthmedia.com

To be encouraged: New features are being added to The Mentor Center that will enhance your ministry experience as an online mentor.

We continue to appreciate your prayers and patience.

Blessings!

Attention Mentors ~Emails in TMC~

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Greetings!

Attention to the teen/youth and all other mentors. If you notice any emails in your inbox with support@thehopeline.com anywhere on the form, please use ‘Other’ to reassign those to.

Attention to all other communities. If you receive emails that have dmlive on it please reassign these to ‘Other’. Only the teen/youth mentors should answer them who have already gone through a criminal record check. This is due to the legalities of dealing with underage people.

Also, we have been dealing with an influx of spam coming through as legitimate emails. If you do get spam in your inbox please reassign it to the category ‘Spam’ in your drop down box after clicking on reassign. If you’re not sure its spam but suspect it could be, do not send a reply but reassign as well to the category ‘Other’.

We will have some people pulling spam throughout the weekend, however please note that you could still find spam in your inbox until this is resolved.

We do apologize for this and want you to know that it’s top priority for our team to create a fix for this as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and graciousness as we continue to work diligently to provide a safe and meaningful ministry place for you to work in.

Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Blessings!

Terri’s Tuesday Tip ~Reassigns in TMC~

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Thank you for your prayers!

We are very excited how well the transition went. Although, there are some glitches we are currently working through, the transition from ARC to The Mentor Center went relatively smooth.

Tip

To reassign emails in your inbox, click the reassign button between Reply and Tag on the top right corner of the email message. If you are certain the email is spam, select Spam and click the reassign button. If you are not sure, select the reason best suited to the situation or ‘Other’ and then click the reassign button. All these reassigns will go directly to your Community Leader, who will then be able to re-direct them to the appropriate place.

Thank you for your patience as we are completing a fix to the email routing issue. Many of you have not had any emails since the move and this is because emails are being held up in a pool. We are expecting the fix to be completed in the next few days and then the mail will be distributed out to the mentors.

Blessings!

Terri
