Our online mentoring ministry has unique opportunities to reach people who have no hope. People find our web sites who haven’t found help anywhere else. Through being connected to a mentor who is pursuing Jesus, listens, shows empathy, compassion, asks open ended questions and prays, a divine appointment seems to emerge out of the misery and lives begin to change.

We are not professional counselors but people who follow the Greatest Counselor of All.
Below are two ‘God’ Success Stories.

Walk Along Side…

1) You know, you are the first person in my ENTIRE life, all twenty-seven years and seven months, to say that there was ANY kind of softness to me. NOBODY in my ENTIRE life has ever used my name and the word “softness” in the same sentence. I do want to thank you, though, because you are right, you don’t judge me because of how my life has come to be. You TRULY do accept me for who I am today and what I hope to do with my life. You don’t criticize or place blame. You tell me like it is whether it’s difficult for me to hear or not. You always listen and at least TRY to understand. If by some odd chance, you don’t understand, you don’t try to act like you do. You’re honest and foreword, and you tell me that you don’t understand. That’s a rare and precious
thing to find these days.’

*********************************************

2) June 2011: Its kind of hard to believe that god loves me when I hear so many people saying I’m just going to die and burn in hell and that I’m a bad person. I’m sorry I got a email mentor, I know when I bother someone and I know I’m bothering you so I won’t email anymore. I don’t like to bother people.
November 2011: I’m guessing I’ll still be doing the same thing in college as I am in high school. Nothing will change, at least not for the better. Nothing ever changes for the better for me. Like I said before, I’m not a people person so volunteering won’t do me any good. If anything I should be dead, I don’t do any good for the world, just hold everyone else back.
May 2012: I wish I could just give you a hug.
On Wednesday my friend told me that the place I applied to tried to call me and set up an interview (he knows this because he works there). Well he took me over there after school and I had my first job interview and the lady said she liked me a lot. So now I have my second interview today at 3.p.m at the same place I hope I get the job I want to make some money for phone bills and maybe make some money to help my best friend out. And of course keep some for me and college stuff too. Today is going to be busy for me. I have my graduation practice, senior picnic, the interview, hopefully go to the store to grab a gift, then to my cousins graduation. I hope you have a good day

Have a Great Week!

Walk Along Side…
“Just wanted to update you – I’m doing so much better now! I had a day off work and had what I can only describe as a breakthrough. My church has been fasting every Tuesday of May. I hadn’t taken part as I wasn’t really sure how to go about it, so I decided to have a few hours with no TV, no food, so I could just spend time with the Lord. I went on YouTube and put on my praise and worship playlist and for about 2 hours, I had the most intense time with God. It was beautiful – I sang to Him, prayed to Him and cried to Him. Once it was over, I felt like a massive weight had been lifted from me…..it was the strangest feeling.”

Thank you for your Peace Father ♥
Have a great week
“I wanted to pass on this blessing of mentoring to you. This is from a girl who didn’t have anything to wear to her prom and has been suicidal many times. Here is the email I had Sunday. After over 300 conversations, she is coming along in the right direction. I wanted to share this blessing of how God knows when we need a little encouragement as we serve.” (mentor)

Do you know anyone who has been afflicted with cancer? If so, then you must be familiar with that feeling — the dreaded fear of the unknown. There are many hard questions, many emotions, many thoughts to grapple with. When Katherine heard that her husband, Dave, was diagnosed with cancer, she was filled with fear. Her family went through excruciating moments: rounds of treatment, cancer recurrence, and several hopeless nights. Their church community rallied together, sharing in their tears and sorrows, and helping them wrestle with purpose, hope, and heaven. Katherine shares her journey through their arduous battle with cancer, and how she faced death and how she found hope and peace amidst the storm.

If I asked your friends to describe you, what would they say? And if I asked you to describe yourself, would your answers match up with those of your friends? Consistency in character is certainly no easy feat; it is difficult to keep up one’s persona especially when there is no one watching. Pastor Nate Larkin lived a double life — despite a floundering marriage and a growing inclination to feed his porn addiction, he worked long and hard to protect the reputation that he so carefully built. He knew that the moment his scandal broke out, his ministry would be finished. Little did he know that the trials he was going through were opportunities to build up his character. Watch video: http://powertochange.com/iamsecond/protecting-my-reputation-dvid/

Walk Along Side…
“By one of those lovely God incidents, we have a missionary friend living there AND in the same city! He finds it very difficult on his own. He can now speak the language reasonable and also teaches English but as a Christian, it is very difficult to witness and one has to even be careful about emails and all writing. I am sure my friend will be pleased to contact my mentee, who seems to be really wanting to get right with God.
That has really made my day spending an hour or so getting that sorted before we set off for holidays. I do thank God (almost) every day for this door of opportunity for ministry that he has opened up for me.
Every Blessing in Him,

Please pray for the 35 Day Challenge that hundreds of people are engaged in. Center Street Church in Calgary is encouraging their small groups and many of their congregation members to go through this training so they can share their faith with three people in their life.

Please join us in praying for the development of TheLife.com. The Life calls people to live their lives under the Lordship of Christ, and to share their faith and to inspire Christians to do the same.

Please pray for the partnership between Center Street Church in Calgary and Power to Change. Together, we are working on an outreach campaign during the 100th Calgary Stampede that is taking place this summer. Center Street would like to train 2000 believers to share their faith, to create an outreach strategy throughout the city and mobilize up to 300 mentors to make a significant impact in the city. Please join us in prayer.

Please join us in praying for funds. As we strive to mobilize thousands of people to share their faith with millions, we need funds and resources.

Walk Along Side…
“I wrote a prayer request 2 1/2 years ago and you answered me. So much has happened since then. I went ahead and divorced my husband. After praying for 20 years for him to change and stop the abuse I gave up. Throughout the 20 years it was a cycle of abuse then an apology and a promise to change but with every passing year the abuse would get more severe and then also was directed at our children. Myself and the children had so many emotional scars and the pain was at times unbearable. My son refused to have any type of relationship with his father but the girls 11 and 9 at the time had to visit their dad. They would cry and ”throw up” at times before they left. But then something happened. He changed. They now want to go with him. He told me he really has found the Lord and I believe him although part of me is a little hesitant. Throughout the years he told me he wanted to get back together. I have such an overwhelming desire to do this. I can’t believe I could feel this way. Please pray for my family.”

♥ This is a real life story of a hurting family who is finding hope and healing and restoration through our God. I would reiterate what she has asked for at the end of her comment, ‘Please pray for my family.’ Let’s join together and pray for them before we close this email. ♥

When a desk is messy there is greater chance for something important to get pushed aside or forgotten all together!
To be assured that all emails are answered in a timely fashion, it would help if your inbox was neat and tidy at all times.

Archive (Close)
Every time you send a reply to a mentee then click on the archive button immediately afterwards. This will store your answered email in your archive folder. If the mentee writes you back, then their reply will show up in your inbox.
If you want to send the mentee another email before they reply, then re-open the email by clicking on ‘Archive’ under ‘Folders’ on the left side of the page in TMC. Click on the Subject line (blue) and then on ‘Re-Open’ at the top right side of the email. This sends the email to your inbox where you can reply again.

Reassign
If you cannot respond to a new email, then please reassign it, so your Community Leader can find another mentor who will be able to reply. Never Archive a new email that has not had a response.

Tags
Tagging allows you to label an email with one or more words of your choice that serves as a reminder so you can use ‘Search Tag’ later on.
http://truthmedia.com/thementorcenter/resources/mentor-training/tags/

Walk Along Side…(please pray for this gal and her mentor as they continue to correspond. This mentee has come a long way)
“I want to feel joy and I need to feel joy, I’m just not sure if I would know what to do with it. I wouldn’t know if I was actually feeling joy because I don’t remember what it feels like. That’s scary and sad when you think about it. I signed my email “Hope” instead of “Hopeless” because I figured “Hopeless” was a negative name, and as long as I allowed even small little negative things in my life (like a name), then I would always think, feel & act negatively. However, I’m not quite ready for “Hopeful” yet. We have a ways to go for that one.”

Walk Along Side…
Thank you so much. I do know the Lord well and calling on him is all I know to do. My daughter and I prayed your prayer together (touching and agreeing). The storm has calmed. I talked to my Pastor yesterday, he has counseled both of us in the past.. Your message is so accurate because the Lord has been dealing with me about focusing on myself and I have begun doing just that. God bless you my sister. Your response was so needed and timely.

Have a Wonderful Week!
Terri ♥

Over the past weeks I have become more aware than ever that the starting point in spiritual conversations has shifted drastically. So many people don’t even have a point of reference as to who God is, yet they are willing to engage in conversation about the things that matter in their lives. Most people are willing to talk about relationships, the meaning and purpose of their lives, and address the issue of what will happen to them after they die. It is a tremendous skill to learn how to transition into a spiritual conversation with someone.
Relationship questions helps a young woman discover Jesus:

A young woman, Tara*, had been corresponding with one of our mentors about a relationship she was in. She knew her parents would disapprove and was struggling with how she could tell them. After quite a few interactions, this is how the mentor transitioned and led this woman to Christ:

Mentor: This is a very hard thing to go through, you must feel very anxious and stressed. …Would you mind if i prayed for you?… Whenever i am under stress i find that it helps to pray about it. God promises to hear us when we pray to Him, He listens and He cares so much to hear what we have to say. He gives us strength, hope, and comfort. I hope to encourage you today by saying that the Lord loves you (mentees name)… He cares for you more than you understand! What do you think of that?

Tara: i think that thats amazing that he loves me.

Mentor: Have you prayed about your situation at all? Would you like to pray to accept Christ into your life or have you before? He wants you to know that He loves you. Before i accepted Christ into my life i was more depressed and lonely. My life has changed since i have and i am living a more peaceful life..

Tara: I feel ok with it now. I guess that I could tell them. No I havent prayed about it at all. I would like to ask Christ to come into my life. I know that I’m not alone, and that I always have HIM in my life.

Your story – a way that you can share your faith:

It’s incredible how people can make a difference when we learn how to share our faith in a relevant way. A powerful way is through the use of our personal story. When you start to tell a story people lean in. They want to hear how the story will turn out.

You have a story. When you engage people in conversation about things that really matter, sooner or later the attention is going to shift to you. You’ll be asked, “So tell me about your spiritual beliefs,” or, “Why does Jesus mean so much to you?” You could answer with a mini-lecture – something along the lines of the Gospel 101, or you could answer with a story. Your story. You have something powerful, personal, and true to share. You have a story that people need to hear – a story that points to Jesus.

Watch Nadine’s Story <http://powertochange.com/experience/spiritual-growth/striving-for-satisfaction/> . Notice how she kept her story short (about two minutes long), and focused it around a single theme. (written by Karen Schenk)

♥ Thank you for all that you do! You are valuable and loved ♥
