FormBuilder 0.54
FormBuilder version 0.54 is a minor bug fix and CSS tweaking release. Two issues have been addressed and are as follows:
Plugin Deactivation Bug: Past versions of the FormBuilder plugin would display warning messages when deactivating the plugin. This issue has been resolved.
CSS Tweaks: The display for multiple radio buttons has been improved. We have also removed the default background colors which were previously added to forms.

The plugin used on my site now errors (even though I’ve actually removed the plugin altogether) on every page saying:
The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…
mm… not good.

Hi Rod,
At this point, FormBuilder doesn’t support customization of the form action, other than using the built-in plugin mechanism. However, it is a feature scheduled for a future release.

Nate, did you deactivate the plugin first before removing it?

Great plugin, I’m very interested in how I can make use of the hidden field, to include for example the date or a referring page.

Hi guys,
The formbuilder plugin works pretty well for me… except that I can’t get the desired response message to pop up when the form is sent. Just a blank page shows on submission of the form. any suggestions?
Thanks!

Used to be a great plugin. I updated from version 0.42 to 0.54 (yes, deactivated, then deleted, uploaded and activated) and now the forms always show the error messages before someone even filled out the fields. Doesn’t look nice when you click on a link and see a form with half a dozen of errors in your face. I will try to downgrade back on earlier version and then will try another plugin if nobody can help me.
Greetings

Hi Jan,
I’d love to help you. Our main developers are out on vacation but I’ll see if there is anything I can do for you. What version of WP are you running?
Just so you know I haven’t had any of these issues but I’ve followed the entire upgrade cycle.
One thing I’d suggest is to go into your forms and save them again with the new version of the plugin. There were some DB changes in the past upgrades I believe.

Hello Sheldon,
thanks for you answer and excuse my roughness at the beginning. I was very frustrated of some other errors at my blog.
I deleted all my forms and deactivated the plugin and just to be sure that everything’s gone I also deleted the formbuilder tables in mysql using phpmyadmin… which was a mistake. No, after I re-uploaded and activated the plugin it shows me many errors like:
“WordPress database error: [Table 'db1004370-wp.wp_formbuilder_forms' doesn't exist]
SELECT * FROM wp_formbuilder_forms”
Which means that it was not that intelligent to delete the tables but i thought they will be recreated after i activate the plugin again. Damn… What can I do now? I just want formbuilder working again!
Greetings

Hi Jan,
Rule #1. Never ever ever, mess with blogs around Christmas time. Nothing ever works properly and all the techies take a few weeks off.
I know what its like to have things go wrong though so I’m feeling the pain with you.
I think there may be something else in the database you’ll want to remove to let it know that it needs to setup the tables again. Just a second.

Yup, in the wp-options table there are a few things FB related you may want to get rid of.

Look for
formBuilder_custom_css
formbuilder_version
formbuilder_spam_blocker
I think it may be the version option that makes FB think it is just ttrying to upgrade. I’ll get James to look into this deeper when he gets back from his holidays.

Thank you very much, I was able to delete these 3 rows and got the version 0.54 running again, but the displaying errors are still there.
So i will the next step, downgrading on a lower version.

I’ve sent an email to James to help you as I don’t think there is much I can do now. I don’t know if he is checking his email at this time (it’s his anniversary) so if you can hold off for a day or two we’ll do everything we can to get this working for you.

Hi Jan,
I’m now back from vacation and would be happy to try and help you through resolving this problem. Can you let me know where things are at with it?
I will need to know what version of FB you’re currently running, what steps you have already taken, and all errors you are seeing.
Thanks a bunch,
James

Hi James,
I “solved” the problem in the meantime. Let me summarize what I’ve done:
I usually just copy the plugin files from project folder to project folder without checking for new updates (I’m using to many plugins unfortunately) but this time I noticed the wordpress alert, that there were a new version available. At this moment (1 month ago) I was using 0.42 without any errors or problems. Just thought a new version couldn’t be too bad. Well, right after I activated the new version 0.54 suddenly everybody could see the error messages of all fields without doing anything, just loading the website which is bad, because they have to appear only if someone forgot to fill out a required field.
That’s when I was asking for help. I followed Sheldon Kotyks advice and managed to delete all database tables and could downgrade to 0.53 - again same problem. Wanted to downgrade to 0.52 but saw that it wasn’t recommended to use it so I installed 0.50 which still didn’t change anything until I came back to where I’ve started: 0.42
This version works fine, without any bugs or errors I could complain about.
Same facts you could need:
I’m using wordpress version 2.3.1 with the german language pack. Other plugins I’ve activated/in use:
+ External Links
+ Frame Buster
+ Google Analytics
+ Google XML Sitemaps
+ intouch extended
+ WP-ContactForm (de)
+ wpSEO
Webspace is on hosteurope.de “WebPack M”
Hope I could help you. Feel free to ask further questions.

Hi Jan,
So, I think I figured out what the problem is. A feature we recently added (the ability to send GET variables to the form in order to pre-fill in selected fields) has resulted in a bug on the script when used on WP blogs with the default permalink structure in place.
I’ll have to work on fixing the bug and releasing a new version of FormBuilder as soon as possible.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention,
James.
